It seems to be inevitable that at least one person you tell about your plans to have a baby/go to the dentist/have your tonsils out/go bungy jumping will immediately respond with a story/ies of a friend/cousin/aunt/made-up-person that died/was horribly mutilated/scarred for life while having/doing said procedure/action.

      I mentioned wanting to have laser surgery on my eyes to correct my vision.

      I was told one laser surgery = melted face story, one eyeballs burned out by laser story and one my “friend” went blind story. It sounded like a bad horror movie.
