Trying to look on the bright side

On Sunday night, at an unspecified time, someone (a thief, presumably) broke into my car by popping the passenger side door open with what was probably a crowbar (I was also the only one who heard jack hammering at around 11:30, but I do not think this is related).

They stole what little was in my car (a foot pump and sunglasses) and left my door bent out of shape. The door closes and locks, but the resulting gap around the top is just wide enough to let the rain in.

I took it to the panel beaters today fully under the impression that they would be able to repair it (probably wishful thinking’s influence) only to be told I would need to replace the entire door. I now await the quote with mounting dread.

The bright side? They can reuse the lock, so I won’t end up with three keys for my car.

EDIT: Quote received. It may be cheaper to buy a new car.
