Intelligent Design

Posted in Uncategorized by akichan on July 23, 2007

I’m sure most people have heard of it before.

Intelligent design refers to the pseudo science that allows those of a religious persuasion to class their beliefs as scientific fact or at the very least theory. Most notably, it has featured in the reason for the creation of the parody religion of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (or Spaghedeity) created by Bobby Henderson.

[Credit goes to certain individuals, they know who they are, for introducing me to this fascinating and totally preferable religion]

Intelligent design fascinates me for the following reasons:

1. It allows a belief with no factual basis to be considered a science.

2. It undermines true sciences to such an extent that it can be allowed to take one their places in a university curriculum.

Perhaps it just me, with my obviously heathen beliefs, but this seems……wrong.

But, as I said, perhaps it just me. Belief is, after all, not something anyone has the right to dictate.

New Job, Old Job

Posted in Uncategorized by akichan on July 6, 2007

There’s something really wrong with being expected to work at your old job when you’ve just started a shiny new super cool job. In your field. Which you love. Especially when your old job is in retail. Which you hate.

It’s like giving your month’s notice at a job you hate then trying to muster the enthusiam to do your job, and do it well, for the remaining 30 days.

Still, at least I have something to look forward :)
